Kampung Indonesia, the theme of Indofest 2017, will see the centre of Adelaide transformed into a vibrant hub with pavilions dotted around Victoria Square representing different kampung community groups, allowing visitors to ‘explore’ the diversity of Indonesia.  The kampung groups that will be calling Victoria Square home for the day are:

  • Java
  • Sumatra
  • Bali and Lombok
  • Islands of Eastern Indonesia
  • Sulawesi and Kalimantan

Members of the local Indonesian community have worked together to showcase their home regions through a variety of displays including dance, music, interactive workshops, sampling of regional cuisine, traditional games, handicrafts, costumes, textiles, local languages, dance, music, and visual art.

Take your time to wander through each kampung and get a glimpse of the different cultural groups and meet members of our local Indonesian community. Have a go at the different activities on offer, stay and chat with members of our community and experience for yourself the Indonesia beyond Bali; its diversity, beauty, and uniqueness, reflecting the richness that underpins the notion of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, Indonesia’s national motto meaning “unity in diversity”.
