Side Marquees:

Kampung Indonesia (Indonesian Village)

As part of this year’s festival, Victoria Square will be transformed into a sea of Indonesian Kampung, or villages, made up of five distinct pavilions. Each pavilion, or kampung, will showcase natural resources, tourist destinations, music, displays, information and activities from different regions across Indonesia. The people of Adelaide will be invited to visit, explore and interact with each kampung while learning about the diverse cultural landscape of our nearest neighbour, all while engaging directly with the local Indonesian community.

The five kampungs are:
1. Java
2. Sumatra
3. Bali & Lombok
4. Eastern Indonesia
5. Sulawesi & Kalimantan

Melanglang Indonesia (Children’s Program)

To help South Australian children engage with the language and culture of Indonesia, Indofest 2019 will run an inclusive children’s program. This program will be both educational and fun and aims to complement Indonesian language learning within South Australian schools as well as the Australian Curriculum’s Asia focus.

Alun-Alun (Community Space)

In Indonesia, many cities have a grassed communal area called an Alun-Alun. This space is used for anything from concerts, social meetings to hanging out with friends. Indofest 2019 will house our own Alun-Alun in the middle of Victoria Square, where various exclusive and interactive workshops and activities will be happening throughout the day.

City of Adelaide Cooking Demonstrations

Absolutely nothing happens in Indonesia without food, and Indofest is no exception. In addition to our many traditional food vendors who will be spruiking their wares at Indofest, visitors will also have the opportunity to learn how to cook Indonesian cuisine at home. Cooking demonstrations will be presented from a number of different regions to showcase the variety of Indonesian culinary tradition. Taste your way across the archipelago in the cooking demonstration marquee supported by the City of Adelaide.
